Honningsvåg Shore Excursions: Six North Cape Tours, Plateau Time or Hall Ticket
Six North Cape tours leave Honningsvåg for the same plateau, and what separates them is how long you get on top and whether the North Cape Hall is in the price.
Updated October 2026 · By Pierstop
Every North Cape tour sold out of Honningsvåg drives the same road to the same place. The North Cape is 34 km from town, a bus, tour or taxi ride rather than a walk, and all six tours below end on the same plateau beside the same globe monument at the edge of the same 307-metre cliff. So the destination is not what you are choosing between.
What you are choosing is two things the listings tuck into their small print: how many of your hours are spent standing on the plateau rather than stopping on the way, and whether the North Cape Hall is in the price. We read all six listings on 1 October 2026, five in English and the King Crab Tour with Sámi Camp only in its German version, and built this comparison on those two questions, plus a third that catches English speakers out — which language the guide actually speaks.
This is the decision page, not the port page. For where you land, the town walk and lunch, the Honningsvåg cruise guide has it.
Why the Hall Question Matters More Than It Looks
Our own Honningsvåg port information is blunt about the weather: even in summer the North Cape can be cold and windy, at 5 to 12°C, and fog is common — the view is not guaranteed. One of the operators below says the same thing in its own listing: strong winds, snow, ice and poor visibility are possible, and in severe weather the tour may not reach the Cape at all.
That makes the North Cape Hall more than a museum ticket. It is the visitor centre on the plateau, with exhibitions and a panoramic cinema, and on a day when the cliff edge is a wall of grey it is most of what you will see. On a clear day you may not want to go inside at all — which is precisely the pitch of the two cheapest products on this list.
So read the six as three pairs. Two put you on the plateau longest and either leave the Hall out or leave it unclear. Two put the Hall in and spend more of the clock on stops along the way. And two answer different questions altogether: one for culture and king crab, one for the dark half of the year.
Most Time on the Plateau, Hall Not Included or Unclear
The North Cape Shuttle
The North Cape Shuttle is 3.5 hours from EUR 81.65, and it is built on one idea: you get around 2 hours at the North Cape, and nobody tells you how to spend them. There is no guide walking you from the bus to the globe and back. By subtraction, that leaves about an hour and a half of the 3.5 for the drive out and back — the operator's own line is no unnecessary stops.
The North Cape Hall is deliberately not included. You can buy entry separately at the Cape if the weather sends you indoors, or spend the whole time outside if it does not. English is the language listed, but treat this as transport rather than a guided tour. The operator says its departures are planned around cruise ship schedules, with enough time for the return to Honningsvåg. Free cancellation is listed.
Two things to check. The listing had no reviews yet when we read it on 1 October 2026, so you are buying on the description alone. And it says only that you meet the bus "in Honningsvåg" — confirm the exact meeting point when you book.
The North Cape Express
The North Cape Express is the same starting price, EUR 81.65, for 3 hours, rated 4.6 across 373 reviews — the largest review base of the six. It states 1 hour and 20 minutes at the North Cape, entry to the North Cape plateau is included, and departures are daily from the Tourist Information in the centre of Honningsvåg, a short walk from the cruise pier. Look for the bus marked Line 406.
On the way it visits a Sámi family in traditional dress with reindeer — but only once the reindeer have arrived on the island for the season; otherwise the bus makes an alternative stop to spot reindeer in the landscape. Storytelling is listed in English and German. The listing says it is not suitable for wheelchair users, and it offers free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance.
The contradiction to settle before you pay: the description flags as IMPORTANT that the ticket does not include the North Cape Hall visitor centre, while the "includes" list on the same page names an entrance ticket to the North Cape Hall. Take the stricter reading — plateau only — and if the Hall matters to you, ask the operator in writing.
Shuttle or Express? The Shuttle gives you about 40 more minutes on the plateau for 30 more minutes of your day, with no stops and no track record yet. The Express gives you a seasonal reindeer stop, a bilingual commentary and 373 reviews. On a clear day with a long call, take the Shuttle. If you would rather book the known quantity, take the Express.
The Hall Included, Stops on the Way
North Cape Summer Tour with Sami Family Visit
The North Cape Summer Tour with Sami Family Visit is 3 hours from EUR 155.04, rated 4.2 across 123 reviews. The listing states plainly that all entrance tickets are included, and spells out what that means: the North Cape Hall, with its panoramic movie, the Cave of Light and the historical exhibitions, and what it calls a long stay at the Hall. View stops are made along the way, and the Sámi family visit, with traditional outfits and reindeer, is the centrepiece.
Three caveats, all from the listing itself. The Sámi visit depends on departure and season and is not guaranteed; if the family is unavailable, the bus tries to stop for reindeer in the landscape instead. The storytelling is in English or German, or a combination of both, so expect a bilingual commentary. And the 11:15 departure is timed to the coastal express (Hurtigruten and Havila) and sometimes has fewer view stops as a result.
The bus waits next to the tourist information in the centre of town, marked "North Cape Summer Tour" — Line 406, the same line number as the Express. Free cancellation is listed. Set against the Express, this is the same 3 hours for EUR 73.39 more, and what that money buys is a Hall ticket the listing states without contradicting itself, plus a Sámi visit that is the point of the tour rather than a seasonal extra.
North Cape Guided Tour with Entry Ticket
The North Cape Guided Tour with Entry Ticket is 4 hours from EUR 142.19, rated 4.8 across 162 reviews — the highest rating of the six — and it packs the most into its time. It is also the only one of the six that names the pier as its pickup point.
From there it crosses Magerøya with a local guide: the North Cape plateau and the globe monument; the fishing village of Kamøyvær, 12 km from Honningsvåg, with a stop at an art gallery; a Sámi Siida photo stop with reindeer, available only from May through September; a scenic viewpoint, weather permitting; and finally the North Cape Hall with entry included — exhibitions, a panoramic cinema and more. Free cancellation is listed.
The language caveat, stated plainly: the English listing gives German as the guide language. English runs only on specific dated departures, each tied to a named ship. When we read the listing on 1 October 2026, those were six dates in 2026 — 4 June, 24 June, 30 June, 21 July, 28 July and 17 August, for MSC Preziosa and Costa Favolosa — all of them before this article's date. Unless your ship and date appear on the listing, book this tour expecting a German-speaking guide.
The highest-rated tour on this list, with the most stops and the Hall included, costs EUR 12.85 less than the Summer Tour — and it is run in German. For German speakers it is the obvious pick. For everyone else it is the right pick only on a date the listing names.
Two Tours That Answer Different Questions
North Cape and King Crab Tour with Sámi Camp
The North Cape and King Crab Tour with Sámi Camp is the most expensive of the six, from EUR 178.89, and the lowest rated, at 4.1 across 342 reviews.
A source note first, because it shapes how far to trust what follows. The English product page returned a generic page when we tried to read it, although the product is listed on GetYourGuide's English Honningsvåg page; everything below comes from the German-language listing.
That listing has you meet at the harbour tourist information centre 20 minutes before departure, and asks cruise passengers to give their arrival time when booking so that nothing is missed. The drive out comes with guides' stories of Magerøya, its history and its wildlife, and a lookout for reindeer. It stops at a viewpoint over the fjord for a first view of the North Cape and of historic Hornvika, described as the original gateway to the Cape, then continues to the North Cape itself. The title adds a Sámi camp, and the listing promises the chance to see king crab up close.
Read that last phrase carefully: see king crab up close. The description we hold is cut off before it details the North Cape visit, and the part we could read does not promise a crab meal — so do not book this in place of a king crab safari without asking. Our data also gives no duration, no guide language and no cancellation terms for this product. Check all three on the listing before you pay.
North Cape Autumn and Winter Tour
The North Cape Autumn and Winter Tour from Honningsvåg Cruise Port is 3.5 hours from EUR 142.19, with an English-speaking guide, and it had no reviews yet on 1 October 2026. It is the only one of the six written for autumn and winter calls.
It has the most explicit list of inclusions of any product here: round-trip transport from Honningsvåg Cruise Port, an English-speaking guide, entrance to the North Cape plateau, a North Cape certificate, complimentary coffee or tea, scenic photo stops, and a return to your ship that the operator says is planned around cruise schedules. On the plateau you explore at your own pace. Free cancellation is listed.
The Hall is not included, and the reasoning is worth borrowing whichever tour you take. The operator says Hall tickets can be bought on site for approximately EUR 30 per person, and recommends waiting until you arrive, so that you have not paid in advance for a ticket you cannot use if weather, road conditions or anything else stops the tour reaching the Cape. And it is frank about the season: in winter the road to the North Cape is often driven in convoy behind a snowplough, and severe weather, unsafe roads or official closures can stop the tour completing its itinerary, in which case the guide adapts the route. Dress warmly and wear proper footwear.
The Six, Side by Side
Prices are the lowest listed for one adult when we read each listing on 1 October 2026; they move with date and promotions, so check yours.
| Tour | Duration | From | Guide language as listed | Stated as included | Rating | Season and dates |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| North Cape Shuttle | 3.5 hours | EUR 81.65 | English; no guide on the plateau | Transport; around 2 hours at the Cape; Hall not included | No reviews yet | Departures planned around cruise schedules |
| North Cape Express | 3 hours | EUR 81.65 | English and German storytelling | Plateau entry; 1 hour 20 minutes at the Cape; Sámi family visit; Hall unclear, listing contradicts itself | 4.6 across 373 | Daily; Sámi visit only once reindeer are on the island |
| Summer Tour with Sami Family Visit | 3 hours | EUR 155.04 | English or German, or both | All entrance tickets, including the North Cape Hall; Sámi family visit, not guaranteed | 4.2 across 123 | Summer; 11:15 departure timed to the coastal express |
| Guided Tour with Entry Ticket | 4 hours | EUR 142.19 | German; English only on six dated 2026 departures | Pier pickup; plateau; Kamøyvær; Sámi Siida stop; North Cape Hall entry | 4.8 across 162 | Sámi Siida stop May to September |
| King Crab Tour with Sámi Camp | Not stated | EUR 178.89 | Not stated | Hornvika viewpoint; North Cape; Sámi camp; king crab up close | 4.1 across 342 | Not stated |
| Autumn and Winter Tour | 3.5 hours | EUR 142.19 | English | Port round trip; plateau entry; certificate; coffee or tea; Hall not included | No reviews yet | Autumn and winter |
Look at the price column against the "included" column: the two cheapest products, both at EUR 81.65, leave the Hall out or, in the Express's case, unclear — but the Autumn and Winter Tour at EUR 142.19 leaves it out too, so price alone does not settle it. The gap from EUR 81.65 to the cheapest tour that clearly includes the Hall is EUR 60.54 — about twice what one operator quotes for buying the Hall ticket at the door.
Which One, by Situation
- If the forecast is clear and the Cape itself is the point, take the North Cape Shuttle. Around two hours on the plateau is the longest stay any listing puts a number on, and you buy the Hall at the door only if you want it.
- If you want the plateau at that price but with a track record, take the North Cape Express — and settle the Hall question with the operator first.
- If you speak English and want the Hall without any doubt, take the Summer Tour. Expect a bilingual commentary, and accept that the Sámi visit is not guaranteed.
- If you speak German, or your ship and date are on the dated list, take the Guided Tour with Entry Ticket: the best rating, the most stops, pickup from the pier and the Hall, for less than the Summer Tour.
- If your call falls in autumn or winter, take the Autumn and Winter Tour, and keep its advice in mind: do not prepay a Hall ticket for a Cape the weather may not let you reach.
- If the Sámi camp and king crab are the draw, the King Crab Tour with Sámi Camp is the only product built around both — but confirm its duration, language and what "king crab" means on the day before booking.
- If reindeer are the point, note that every reindeer element on this list is seasonal: the Express stop only once the reindeer are on the island, the Summer Tour visit not guaranteed, the Sámi Siida stop May to September only.
On a short call, look at the clock before the itinerary. Our port information puts typical calls at 4 to 8 hours and says to allow 3 to 4 hours for any North Cape round trip including time on the plateau. At the short end of that range, the two 3-hour products — the Express and the Summer Tour — are the ones that leave you a margin; the 4-hour Guided Tour takes the whole of a four-hour call.
On a tender call, add the boat. Larger ships may anchor and tender rather than dock, and whatever time the tender takes comes off your margin before you reach any meeting point. That is where the operators who ask for, or plan around, your ship's schedule earn their place: the King Crab Tour with Sámi Camp asks for your arrival time at booking, and the Shuttle and the Autumn and Winter Tour both say their departures are planned around cruise ships.
Book Before the Ship Does
Our port information advises booking North Cape transport in advance, because the buses fill up on cruise ship days, and pre-booking in peak season. Five of the six listings show free cancellation, which makes booking early cheap insurance; the sixth, the King Crab Tour with Sámi Camp, gave us no cancellation terms in its German listing, the only version we could read, so read its terms before you commit.
If you skip the Cape altogether, you lose less than you might think: the town is 2 to 5 minutes' walk from where the ships tie up, and the whole of it can be walked end to end. The Honningsvåg port guide has the town and its walking routes, and the Honningsvåg port information covers the quay and the practical details. The bookable tours are gathered in one place on the hand-picked Honningsvåg shore excursions page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Honningsvåg shore excursion gives you the most time at the North Cape?
The North Cape Shuttle. It runs 3.5 hours from EUR 81.65 and gives you around 2 hours at the North Cape with no guide and no fixed programme on the plateau, so the drive takes roughly the remaining hour and a half. The North Cape Express, at the same starting price, runs 3 hours and states 1 hour and 20 minutes at the Cape. None of the other four listings publishes a stay time in minutes, so if time on the plateau is what you are paying for, those are the two to compare.
Is the North Cape Hall included in North Cape tours from Honningsvåg?
On two of the six it clearly is: the North Cape Summer Tour with Sami Family Visit includes the Hall with its panoramic movie, Cave of Light and historical exhibitions, and the North Cape Guided Tour with Entry Ticket includes Hall entry with its exhibitions and panoramic cinema. The North Cape Shuttle and the Autumn and Winter Tour deliberately leave it out; the autumn operator says tickets can be bought on site for approximately EUR 30 per person. The North Cape Express listing contradicts itself, so confirm it with the operator. The listing for the king crab and Sámi camp tour that we could read does not say.
Are North Cape tours from Honningsvåg guided in English?
Not all of them. The Autumn and Winter Tour lists an English-speaking guide. The North Cape Summer Tour gives its storytelling in English or German, or a combination of both, and the North Cape Express lists English and German storytelling. The North Cape Shuttle lists English but is transport rather than a guided tour, with no guide on the plateau. The North Cape Guided Tour with Entry Ticket lists German as its guide language, with English only on six dated 2026 departures between 4 June and 17 August, each tied to a named ship. The only listing we could read for the king crab and Sámi camp tour, the German one, does not state a guide language.
Which North Cape tour from Honningsvåg suits an autumn or winter cruise call?
The North Cape Autumn and Winter Tour from Honningsvåg Cruise Port is the only one of the six written for that season. It runs 3.5 hours from EUR 142.19 with an English-speaking guide, round-trip transport from the cruise port, plateau entry, a North Cape certificate and coffee or tea. The operator warns that in winter the road is often driven in convoy behind a snowplough, and that severe weather or road closures can stop the tour reaching the Cape, which is why it advises buying any North Cape Hall ticket on arrival rather than in advance.
Where do North Cape tours meet cruise passengers in Honningsvåg?
Three of the six meet at the tourist information in the centre of Honningsvåg, a short walk from the cruise pier: the North Cape Express and the North Cape Summer Tour both leave from there on a bus marked Line 406, and the king crab and Sámi camp tour meets at the harbour tourist information 20 minutes before departure. The North Cape Guided Tour with Entry Ticket picks up from the pier, and the Autumn and Winter Tour provides round-trip transport from the cruise port. The North Cape Shuttle listing says only that you meet in Honningsvåg, so confirm the exact point when you book.
