Flåmsbana railway

One of the world's steepest railways — a 20km climb from sea level to 867m. Book online before your cruise. Return trip: ~550 NOK. If sold out, take the scenic bus (Aurlandsvegen mountain road) instead.

Opening hours

Norwegian Fjord Centre: 09:00–17:00. Ægir Brewery restaurant from 12:00. Most cafés and shops open 09:00 (tourist season). Everything closes by 18:00–19:00.

Free public toilets at the cruise terminal building (immediately off the gangway) and at the train station. Clean and well maintained during cruise season.

Kayaking the Nærøyfjord

The Nærøyfjord (UNESCO World Heritage) is the narrowest fjord in Norway. Guided kayak tours from the dock take 2–3 hours and are one of the most spectacular things you can do in the region. Book in advance.

Stegastein viewpoint

A 30-metre platform 650m above the fjord. Reachable by taxi (about 400 NOK return) or the Aurlandsvegen scenic route bus. One of Norway's most photographed spots — go early before other ships arrive.
