Havensight, at Long Bay just east of town, is the West Indian Company Dock — privately owned and operated by The West Indian Company Limited, which has run it for over a century — and it takes roughly two calls in three. Crown Bay, west of town in Subbase, is the Austin "Babe" Monsanto Marine Terminal, owned and managed by the Virgin Islands Port Authority; it has two docks with three berths and can hold three ships at once, including Oasis-class. Neither dock is in Charlotte Amalie: Havensight is about 1.3 km from Emancipation Garden in a straight line and Crown Bay about 2.6 km, both along a waterfront highway with no mapped pedestrian provision.

Check your dock before you book anything ashore — a taxi price, a meeting point or a walking plan made for Havensight is wrong at Crown Bay and vice versa. Both docks have a shopping centre attached (Havensight Mall, Crown Bay Center) and a taxi rank outside. Fares are per person, not per car, and are set by law, so agree the fare with the driver before you get in.

911, same as the US mainland — VITEMA runs the territory's 911 centre and you can text 911 if you cannot call. Roy Lester Schneider Hospital (340-776-8311) is open 24/7, about 1.8 km from Havensight.

No verified free public WiFi network in Charlotte Amalie — plan on the terminal malls, cafés and restaurants. The USVI is a US territory, so most US mobile plans treat it as domestic; confirm with your carrier.
Downtown and terminal shops key their hours to ship days rather than a fixed timetable. Wednesday is by far the busiest cruise day (4.3 calls a day Nov-Apr) and Friday the quietest (0.8) — on a Friday call, expect a very quiet town.
Not one public toilet is mapped anywhere in Charlotte Amalie or at either dock in OpenStreetMap. Go before you leave the ship, and otherwise count on cafés and restaurants, which normally expect a purchase.

English, and it is the language of government and business — no phrasebook needed. You will also hear Virgin Islands Creole among locals. 'Good morning' before anything else is genuinely expected here.
Taxi fares are per person and fixed by law, not metered — always confirm the rate before the doors close. The Magens Bay Authority puts the run from either dock to Magens Bay at 15-20 minutes and about $10-15 per person each way; park entry is $7 per person for non-residents, under-12s free.
